Strip-Out Works

Where materials are beyond repair or preventing effective drying, we coordinate controlled strip-out works. This may include the removal of damaged flooring, plasterboard, insulation, fixtures, fittings and finishes, while retaining as much of the existing building fabric as possible.

Project Management

We provide a single point of contact throughout the process, coordinating contractors, specialists, insurers and loss adjusters where required. Our role is to keep the project moving, provide clear communication, control costs, and ensure the works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

Drying & Monitoring

We arrange and manage targeted drying programmes using specialist equipment and moisture monitoring. Regular readings help confirm progress and ensure that reinstatement works only proceed once the property has been suitably dried.

Reinstatement

Once drying is complete, Peak Projects manages the reinstatement works required to return the property to its pre-incident condition. This can include repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, joinery, decorations, services and finishes.

Drying Technologies

Effective water damage restoration depends on selecting the most appropriate drying method for the building construction and the extent of moisture ingress. At Peak Projects, we utilise a combination of traditional structural drying, pressure drying and negative pressure drying techniques, together with both refrigerant and desiccant dehumidification systems, to achieve the most efficient drying outcome.

Refrigerant Dehumidifiers

Refrigerant dehumidifiers work by drawing warm, moist air across a cooled evaporator coil. As the air cools, moisture condenses into water and is collected or discharged. The dried air is then reheated and returned to the room. These systems are particularly effective in occupied buildings and environments where temperatures remain above approximately 15°C. They are energy efficient and well suited to drying plaster, timber, masonry and internal finishes following most escape of water incidents.

Desiccant Dehumidifiers

Desiccant dehumidifiers operate differently by passing moist air through a rotating desiccant wheel which absorbs moisture directly from the air. The moisture is then removed through a separate regeneration process.
These systems can achieve much lower humidity levels than refrigerant units and continue to operate effectively in colder conditions. They are particularly useful where rapid drying is required or where moisture has penetrated deep into the building structure.

Traditional Structural Drying

Traditional drying combines dehumidification with carefully controlled air movement. Air movers accelerate evaporation from wet materials while dehumidifiers continuously remove moisture from the air.
As moisture evaporates from walls, floors and ceilings, the dehumidification equipment maintains a low humidity environment which encourages additional moisture to migrate from within the building fabric to the surface where it can evaporate.
This remains the primary drying method for most water damage incidents.

Traditional Structural Drying

Pressure Drying (Injection Drying)

Pressure drying is used where moisture has become trapped within floor voids, cavity walls, insulation layers, flat roofs or other concealed construction elements.
Specialist equipment introduces warm, dry air directly into the affected cavity through a network of hoses connected to strategically placed access points. The pressurised air passes through the wet construction, absorbing moisture as it travels.
The moisture-laden air then escapes through designated vents or openings where it is removed by dehumidification equipment.

Negative Pressure Drying

Negative pressure drying operates on the opposite principle. Instead of injecting dry air into the structure, powerful vacuum systems extract moist air directly from cavities, floor voids and insulation layers.
By creating negative air pressure within the affected construction, moisture is drawn towards the extraction points and removed from the building.
This technique is particularly effective where contamination may be present or where moisture needs to be removed from enclosed spaces without forcing air through the construction.

Selecting the Correct Drying Method

No single drying system is suitable for every water damage incident. The most effective solution depends upon the construction of the building, the extent of water penetration, the materials affected and the environmental conditions.

Moisture Monitoring & Drying Verification

Effective drying is not based on estimates or arbitrary timescales. At Peak Projects, we use a combination of handheld moisture meters and remote monitoring systems to accurately assess the extent of moisture ingress and track the drying process from start to finish.

During the initial inspection, moisture readings are taken throughout the affected property to identify both visible and hidden moisture within walls, floors, ceilings and structural elements. These readings allow us to produce a moisture map of the building and establish drying targets for the affected materials.

Where necessary wireless data loggers and remote monitoring technology continuously record environmental conditions, including temperature and relative humidity. Using systems such as Corroventa SuperVision®, we can remotely monitor drying equipment performance, review live moisture data and track progress without the need for unnecessary site visits. This enables drying systems to be adjusted as conditions change and ensures that drying continues as efficiently as possible.

Regular monitoring provides a clear record of drying progress and helps verify that moisture levels are reducing as expected. The collected data can be reviewed by contractors, insurers and loss adjusters, providing an evidence-based approach to moisture management and drying verification. Remote monitoring systems also help reduce energy consumption by ensuring equipment operates only for as long as required to achieve the specified drying targets.

Before reinstatement works commence, final moisture assessments are undertaken to confirm that the affected building materials have returned to acceptable moisture levels. This ensures that repairs are carried out on a properly dried structure, reducing the risk of future defects, mould growth and moisture-related damage.

Trace & Access

Identifying the source of a leak is often the first step in preventing further damage and progressing an insurance claim. Peak Projects provides trace and access services to locate hidden leaks and identify affected services with minimal disruption to the property.

Using a combination of thermal imaging, moisture mapping, visual inspection and practical building knowledge, we investigate water ingress affecting walls, floors, ceilings and concealed building elements. Our experience allows us to identify likely leak sources and determine the most effective access strategy before any intrusive works are undertaken.
